Cover for Autumn Dance

Once again I have a new  cover to share.
It always feels like Christmas when I open an email with
a newly created cover for one of my books in it.
Once again thank you to Blaise Kilgallen for such awesome work!

I threw this together.  I love seeing the entire series covers lined up like that!

One other thing to share today (yes I'm completely distracted as of late with edits!!!)
Dream Visions was given a 5/5 review !!

Book Review:

While this is the second book in a series, it can be read as a stand-alone. I love the development of the relationships between the characters, not just the romance but also the friendships. Felicity is used to being alone, feeling alone, and handling everything alone. So when she meets Sandy who introduces her to Jac, Brent, and Reid, who not only befriend her but accept her, she is left dealing with unaccustomed emotions.

I have come to know Jacqueline Paige as an author in the last year and she has quickly become a favorite. This story is no exception. As I have come to expect from Jacqueline, this book is humorous, well thought out, has a great plot line, fully developed characters (lead as well as support), and is very engaging. I was immediately drawn into the story and not let go until the story had resolved. Time ceased to exist as I followed these characters through their adventure; watched, felt, and worried with them all the way to the resolution.

I give this story 5 out of 5 clouds.

New release, updates and more!

This week has been a blur for me.  My job was a week of disasters -
from the A/C dying to the computers going down, and phones and ...
but on the writing front it was a great week, so I'm chalking it up as
a 'win' over all!

Sunday Dream Visions will be released at Class Act Books (Amazon
will follow within a few weeks later).  I'll post the links and excerpts on
Sunday when everything is live.

I've been busy getting things organized for the release ( a huge thank you
to Bewitching Book Tours, without Roxanne working hard I'd be sitting here
holding my book wondering what to do.  Check out the first issue of
Bewitching Book Tours Readers Magazine for some great books and
authors and more!)

With Roxanne taking care of all that for me, I've been working at getting the changes made to the book that comes after Dream Visions in the Hidden Senses Trilogy - Inner Reflections. As well as working on the edits for the fourth book in the Magic Seasons - Autumn Dance.

*whew*

This year has been a marathon for me so far. Constant edits and revisions for so many
books at the same time I'm lucky I remember my own children's names most days.
You'd think I would take a much need breather now that I'm nearing the end ... four out of
six releases for 2012 completed ... but no I can't do that!   Yesterday I just received word
that the first book in my new Animal Trilogy will be out late fall/pre-holiday season. So keep
an eye out for updates on Animal Heart.

Annnd (if you're an editor pretend that word only has one 'n') also I've been asked to do a few minor revisions to After the Silence to get it reader ready - of course I agreed to that too!

I'll rest in 2013 - maybe.

Don't forget to enter the Magic Seasons contest, there's still two and a half weeks until the second draw takes place!

Last on today's update... I find myself without my main Beta Reader. *sigh* She is due to have a bouncing baby boy in the next week or so (I hope for her sake its only a week) and has decided that she probably won't have the free time to read through my stories for a while.

So, if you're one of those people that think "Why didn't they do that?" while reading a story, then you may be the person I'm looking for!

I like feed back, what works, what doesn't, where it rambles too long or not long enough and to even suggest a 'what if' from time to time.  "It was good." is not feed back!!  Sometimes my eyes can't see what my own writing lacks.

You don't have to be a writer or editor, just someone that loves to read and has an opinion.
If you're interesting in having the opportunity to read new stories before they're even published, drop me an email and tell me who your favorite authors are (just to see if we have something in common...) and I'll send you a sample to see if we'll fit together.

Please place BETA in the title so I don't lose your email along the way!

Calendar Updates

It's been a busy month for me so far and it's only the 11th!

With the release of Harvest Dreams coming up in four days, there is,
as always lots to do.

I finally discovered I can't be in six places at once (home, work, office,
sleeping, at kids school events etc...) so I decided to enlist the help
of a publicist at Bewitching Book Tours.

Now, I just need to find the time to keep up with the schedule set up for me.
I've just updated my Calendar page, you can find it
here http://jacqpaige.blogspot.ca/p/my-calendar.html?zx=e6612e1365cafd14

More news that will be added to the calendar soon enough...  The second
book in the Hidden Senses Trilogy, Dream Visions will be out in July at
Class Act Books.  I had planned to have the third one (Inner Reflections)
ready for an early fall release, but after going through it I've decided it is
lacking that something that the first two books had, so it's back on the table
undergoing some minor surgery.  The good news in this is the fourth book to
the Magic Seasons, Autumn Dance will be coming out in September instead.

Make sure you get in on the Magic Seasons draw

Excerpt Thursday - From Beltane Magic

Owen found himself placed between Dade and Chris among the drummers. He was caught up in learning the rhythms and watched either Chris or Dade’s hands to pick up the beat. This he found was also a good place to be as the dancers stopped often and danced right in front of the drummers or brought them drinks.
After an hour his arms were tired and he honestly had a new admiration for the men beside him who were still going strong, moving effortlessly from one rhythm to the next.
During a slower beat, he noticed several of the dancers moving through those at the edge of the circle and through the drummers. He watched as the dancers took their wreaths off and placed them onto a male’s head. He was sure the males didn’t realize how silly they looked wearing flowers and ribbons, although when the dancers gave them a kiss, he was also sure they didn’t care how odd they looked.
Kasey paused in front of the drummers and began to weave her way toward them, slowly taking off her wreath. She smiled in a shy, nervous kind of way at the drummers. Neither Dade nor Chris paused in their drumming, but Owen could feel them both waiting to see who she was going to place her wreath on. When she passed Dade and went to Chris, Owen noticed and enjoyed the grin on his new friend’s face.
Chris actually missed a few beats in the rhythm as he raised a hand to place behind her head to receive the kiss. Owen didn’t see steam, but he felt warmer just witnessing their kiss.
He found himself wishing some woman would make him look like an idiot and place her wreath on his head. He turned to watch the same with Doc and Rachel. He was sure Steven was blushing after it, or maybe it was just from the heat of it.
At the point when Cora began seductively dancing her way into the drummers, his heart stopped. She was far too exotic a woman for him to handle, but if she placed her wreath on his head, he would certainly try. He felt like a schoolboy wanting to jump up and say, “pick me,” but he dug deep and found his dignity somewhere.
She passed him by and held the eyes of the man beside him. When she placed the wreath on Dade’s head and leaned her mouth down to his, Owen was sure the sparks that flew between them somehow burned him. In his own amazement, he realized it was a kiss out of a movie that made your heart speed up. Dade didn’t miss a single beat on the drum, though the kiss seemed to last more than just a few moments.
He found himself wishing for mistletoe or a cute puppy, anything that would bring one of them to him. His heart tripped and almost stumbled when he noticed Leena was dancing toward the drummers. He fought the urge of wanting to look around and make sure he was the only one in the area without a wreath on his head but held onto what adult-like composure he had left.
When she stopped in front of him, it was all he could do to not stand and meet her halfway, so he held the drum in front of him tightly and stayed seated. As the wreath touched his head, she smiled a smile that made his insides burn. He reached up to gently guide her head down to his.

From Beltane Magic is available!

In the mood for a little romance and magic (and I do mean witch magic)?
Maybe for a little mystery and suspense?

FROM BELTANE MAGIC
Book I the Magic Seasons
Each were willing to spend their lives alone and safe; until they’re touched by Beltane Magic.
Can they survive their pasts to be together as they struggle to find a killer before the wheel turns again?
Extended Blurb:
Leena is a woman that is gentle in everything, her personality and moods. She always feels maternal with her closest friends and would go out of their way to look after any one of them. Her ability of controlling the elements and knowledge of plants make her magic abilities strong and unbreakable.  She is a leader at work and in life, always working hard to keep those around her close, but never allowing anyone to get too close.
To the outside world she is just Leena Duncan, a quiet woman who works a normal job and lived a quiet life.
A few times a year she can openly use her magical gifts at celebrations within a small community of people she calls friends.
Having lived through the horrors that can come from the hands of someone you thought loved you; she decided never loving again would prevent more emotional scarring.
It takes one man at a rainy Beltane celebration to change everything she is comfortable with and one killer to change her safe world.
Owen is a man that reflects humour and cavalier vibrations to others, he is gentle and caring as is his ability to draw negative and heal others. If you didn’t know him, you would never realize he came from violence.  Knowing how the real world can be, he has vowed to never put himself into the position, or allow anyone else that could open up the world he has carefully sealed shut forever.
He creates worlds and puts them on paper to entertain others.  After years of using his imagination he finds out his friends can do things he thought only his mind created.
For his entire adult life Owen Grey has always played it safe and kept to his own world of writing, never getting too close to anyone.
Having lived a nightmare growing up he would never take the chance of repeating history.  He may write about happily-ever-after, but knows it is pure fantasy and doesn’t exist.
Until her ...

5 Stars for Dreams

I never go searching for reviews, but I love it when people
share the good ones with me.

"This was quite a steamy, and very enjoyable, read. A unique take on what it would be like if we were to meet the person of our dreams within a dream. The book is very fast-paced and keeps the reader riveted as he/she seeks to know more about what happens next between Jennah and Dominic. Totally recommend it."

Where did I go?

Here I was doing so well at getting back here to post
somethingmore often and then I dropped the ball,
 again.

In addition to work (which I really do not want to
discuss oreven recall while I'm not there) I've been
re-writing the end of Heart.  This one has so many firsts
in it for me I won't stop until I'm completely happy with it.

A few things I am just waiting on confirmation with are:
Harvest Dreams - Book III in the Magic Seasons series,
and Salvation.

The release date for the first story in the Hidden Senses
Trilogy - Mystic Perceptions will be released at Class
Act Books on July 15th - I should have the cover shortly.

Happy Beltane!

I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Beltane a little early.
I unfortunately have to be at the cafe tonight at mid-night to
do month end inventory, so chances of me being up early
tomorrow are pretty slim right now.

We're having perfect weather for the Beltane celebrations
here.  Sunny and warm, which is so wonderful after the
years of minus temperatures and rain.  One year we were
even silly enough to camp out after a Beltane celebration, the
temperatures dropped to zero that night.  I have never been
so cold!!  Surprisingly though everyone brought lots of blankets
and the tents were filled with cocooned bodies and we
somehow survived it.

Here's to a fruitful season to everyone!!

I'm posting an excerpt from Beltane Magic today, of course.
Enjoy!

Book I in the Magic Season series
Paranormal Romance

It was hard to not rush it when she was sitting on the floor with a few books
beside her, chewing her bottom lip over something she was reading.
He wanted to chew that lip, wanted to suck on it.

Sighing, he tossed the notebook onto the couch beside him and sat up.

“What?” She looked at his notebook then at him puzzled. “Out of ideas already?”

He dropped to his knees on the floor and moved toward her. “Oh, I have lots of ideas.”
She held the book in front of her chest, eyes wide. “None of which have anything
to do with anything but you.” She shook her head at him.
“You sit there looking all focused and sexy as hell, and my brain is
having a meltdown.” He pulled the book from her hands and tossed it to the side.
She bit her lip again, looking nervous. “I need a taste.”
His eyes stayed on her mouth. “A small taste to feed a
starving man, pretty Lee.” He dragged her onto his lap.

She struggled with the reasons why she shouldn’t let
him kiss her. “Your story.”

He lowered his mouth to hers. “To hell with the story.”

She leaned back. “But your editor . . .”

He adjusted his hold and pulled her closer. “To hell with my editor.”

“But . . .”

“Kiss me, Lee.” She stopped her struggle and looked at him. “Take one step toward me,
so to speak, instead of away and kiss me.”

The softness of his voice melted her bones. She looked at his mouth.
He really has very kissable lips.

“One kiss.” He was determined to let her come to him this time.

She placed her hands on his cheeks, slowly lowered her mouth to his,
and gently brushed her lips over his. His hand clenched in her hair,
but he didn’t try to pull her closer. Wanting more, she
brushed his mouth again, and when he opened his lips, she hesitantly dipped
her tongue into his mouth and flicked it against his.

Back at it

I think I survived!!

My 'minor' surgery in March was a prelude to the final surgery on April 6th. I've recovered, mostly, and I'm back at it again! I'm sure I'll be sore for a little while longer but now I'm able to function once more at my normal speed. Whew!

Leading up to my surgery I took the time to train someone at work to cover most of everything I do - end result: I get more free time where my brain is still functional. I'm very excited about having help at work now and the possibility of free time, which of course will be spent trying to catch up to my muse and writing.

During my down time I managed to complete some re-writes on Harvest Dreams - Book III of the Magic Seasons series. I'm just finishing up polishing the areas I dissected and then it's back to some serious work.

Either it was the painkillers I was on for the first portion of my recovery or my muse has decided to take me in a new direction but I've decided to go back to the beginning with the first story in my Animal Trilogy - Heart and rework it completely. It's been lacking ... something since I began it. At first I thought it was just the reckless pace I wrote it at for the NaNo contest, but now that I've pondered it I think it's the way it's written. I'm going to completely start over and try (for the first time) it in first person. This will set me behind on a few other things, but this story can be so much more and I'm hoping this will help me bring that out. We'll see.

In other areas of writing I've found out the release date for Mystic Perceptions with Class Act Books has been moved to July. I'm relieved to find this out and quite pleased that it gives me more time to set up promo's and regain the focus required for edits.

And now I'm off to get some work done.
I'll leave you with an excerpt from Book II in the Magic Season series - Solstice Heat

Chris came out of his library to see the three men sitting in his living room. He paused and looked around. “Did I forget about a meeting?” Where were the women? “Where is everyone else?”

Dade leaned forward and rested his elbows on his legs. “We were instructed they were coming here after work and they have been locked in your little magic broom closet for the last hour.”

Chris raised his eyebrows. “Doing?”

Owen lifted his hands. “Won’t say.”

Steven slumped down, wishing for a nap. “They’re not too pleased being driven to and from work.”

“I see.” Chris turned and started down the hall. “Let’s see what they’re up to.”

The men got up and followed him.

He tried the doorknob to find it locked. “Kase, unlock the door.”

“Soon.” She called to him through the door.

He stood there glaring at the door. They’d locked him out of his own room in his own home! We’ll see about this. He stepped back and slapped and invisible command at the door.

Sparks flew off it and the door remained closed. “What the…”

Dade grinned. “Quite the little witch you have there Larkin.”

Steven whistled out a breath. “Just how much trouble can they get into with all your stuff in there?”

Chris still scowled at the door while he answered. “A lot!” He tapped the door with his hand. “Kassandra unlock the door.”

A gentle breeze blew over all four of them.

“That would be a polite no.” Dade said quietly.

“Like hell, I’ll be locked out of my own temple room.” Chris hissed. Stepping back he stared at the door, the handle shook. When he thought it was going to open it started to pour rain on the four of them. He waved a hand to stop it and looked at the men beside him. Dade’s long hair was soaked and the expression on his face was similar to how he himself was feeling about the whole thing.

“And that would be a mind your own business.” Owen said sticking his hands in his pockets.

Chris looked at Steven. “You have any ideas?”

Steven shook his head trying to get the water to stop dripping in his face then took a step away from the door. “Oh no. I’m plenty happy enough to wait until it opens on it’s own. You might like lighting striking you but I’m not too open to trying that.”

Chris shook his head. “Are you all afraid of them?”

Dade nodded. “I’ve seen what each one can do alone – especially your little innocent there my friend; the four of them together scare the hell out of me.”

Chris sighed and looked back at the door. “Kasey?”

“Yes Christopher?” Her voice came through the door again.

“You’re making me angry and I don’t want to do something I’ve promised you I wouldn’t.”

A wind breeze ruffled his hair. “I know you won’t Chris. Now go away I’m trying to concentrate here.”

His jaw dropped. Sighing he looked at the others. “Beer?” They nodded and followed him down the hallway.

“Seems you’re a bit afraid of their wrath too councilor.” Dade mumbled behind him.

“Shut up.” Chris growled and walked into the kitchen.
