In Our Dream snippet

Here is a peak at In Our Dream

The nerve of that man! Why won’t he just accept things and go away? She paced back and forth, trying to control the frustration that was pumping through her. Every time she saw him, every hurt moment came flooding back to her and she just wanted him gone. She wanted to move on and live her own life and try her damndest to be happy!

“Jennah?”

She spun around, expecting someone to be behind her. There was no one there. Was that Dominic’s voice? Oh no, she was hallucinating now! Should she call her doctor? Maybe the stress had finally caught up to her. Was she going to end up spending her holidays alone in the psych ward?

“Jennah, why are you so upset?”

She squeezed her eyes shut. I am not hearing voices! I am not losing my mind!

She heard his deep chuckle. “No, you’re not losing your mind. This is really happening. I should have told you, but in our dream...it’s not really a dream. We’re connecting.”

Her eyes flew open. What? “What?” She stood perfectly still, waiting to see if she could hear him again.

“I can explain it better later. I just picked up on how upset you were...”

She squinted. “Picked up? How? How are you inside my head when I’m completely awake? How can we talk inside my head?”

She heard him chuckle again. “Inside mine, as well. I don’t have time right now. Are you all right?”

She laughed out loud, not knowing if he would hear it in her head too. “Clearly not! I’m talking to a man from my dream inside my head while I’m wide awake standing in the locker room at work!”

“Jennah...”

Snippets from SOLSTICE HEAT

Just so my blog doesn't grow mold while I'm busy doing everything else, I thought I'd post a few excerpts and snippets from my upcoming releases for the next few days.

Here's a few short scenes from the second story in the Magic Seasons series - Solstice Heat.
Enjoy!

Chris came out of his library to see the three men sitting in his living room. He paused and looked around. “Did I forget about a meeting?” Where were the women? “Where is everyone else?”

Dade leaned forward and rested his elbows on his legs. “We were instructed they were coming here after work and they have been locked in your little magic broom closet for the last hour.”

Chris raised his eyebrows. “Doing?”

Owen lifted his hands. “Won’t say.”

Steven slumped down, wishing for a nap. “They’re not too pleased being driven to and from work.”

“I see.” Chris turned and started down the hall. “Let’s see what they’re up to.”

The men got up and followed him.

He tried the doorknob to find it locked. “Kase, unlock the door.”

“Soon.” She called to him through the door.

He stood there glaring at the door. They’d locked him out of his own room in his own home! We’ll see about this. He stepped back and slapped and invisible command at the door.

Sparks flew off it and the door remained closed. “What the…”

Dade grinned. “Quite the little witch you have there Larkin.”

Steven whistled out a breath. “Just how much trouble can they get into with all your stuff in there?”

Chris still scowled at the door while he answered. “A lot!” He tapped the door with his hand. “Kassandra unlock the door.”

A gentle breeze blew over all four of them.

“That would be a polite no.” Dade said quietly.

“Like hell, I’ll be locked out of my own temple room.” Chris hissed. Stepping back he stared at the door, the handle shook. When he thought it was going to open it started to pour rain on the four of them. He waved a hand to stop it and looked at the men beside him. Dade’s long hair was soaked and the expression on his face was similar to how he himself was feeling about the whole thing.

“And that would be a mind your own business.” Owen said sticking his hands in his pockets.

Chris looked at Steven. “You have any ideas?”

Steven shook his head trying to get the water to stop dripping in his face then took a step away from the door. “Oh no. I’m plenty happy enough to wait until it opens on it’s own. You might like lighting striking you but I’m not too open to trying that.”

Chris shook his head. “Are you all afraid of them?”

Dade nodded. “I’ve seen what each one can do alone – especially your little innocent there my friend; the four of them together scare the hell out of me.”

Chris sighed and looked back at the door. “Kasey?”

“Yes Christopher?” Her voice came through the door again.

“You’re making me angry and I don’t want to do something I’ve promised you I wouldn’t.”

A wind breeze ruffled his hair. “I know you won’t Chris. Now go away I’m trying to concentrate here.”

His jaw dropped. Sighing he looked at the others. “Beer?” They nodded and followed him down the hallway.

“Seems you’re a bit afraid of their wrath too councilor.” Dade mumbled behind him.

“Shut up.” Chris growled and walked into the kitchen.

--

When the women walked into the living room they were met with four glares.

“Oh!” Kasey jumped and pulled the gris-gris bag from under her shirt. She looked at the women. “Wow do they ever work!” The other three nodded. Turning she looked at Chris. “You need to calm down.”

“Do I?” He said softly.

She frowned at his expression. Then put her hands on her hips. “Yes, you do.” A chair came across the room and nudged the back of her knees.

“Have a seat and explain to me why I was locked out of my own temple room.” He hadn’t moved a muscle.

Sparks flew towards him.

Glaring at her, they vanished with a simple wave of his hand.

The other women sat quietly, not wanting furniture to come to them.

Are we there yet?

I have decided that I am my own worst enemy!

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of chaos and adjustments
and I have some how forgotten sleep and food on more days than I
should have.

Working outside the home is always an adventure - and a great way
to get your head out of the keyboard. I started a new job - along with
an entire new staff at a franchise cafe and eatery that opened up one
block away from my house.

It was an adventure learning how to use
some of the equipment that is worth more than my car and you'd think
I would know better than to volunteer to take on more, but apparently
I don't.
So a few days into it I find myself with keys and codes and the
title of closing supervisor or is it night supervisor, I'm not sure now. So
far the part time kids I'm in charge of at nights have been great and listen
ten times better than my own - I wonder if I can adopt them...

I worked nine days (err, nights) in a row before I had one day/night
off. Which didn't feel like a day off because of everything around the
house I had to get caught up on - housework wise.
My kids (I still have 4 at home ranging from 9-18 yrs old)
are older and pretty self sufficient, but I think all of them have issues with
focusing as they started to do things to help and then just wandered off
and forgot to complete any of it.
We've "discussed" this problem and will see how it goes during my six day stretch.

On top of all of that my writing has grown a voice of it's own and it
nags at me non-stop! I entered NaNo again this year. Story all plotted
and planned (well, as much as I ever do). Of course having time to write
it would be wonderful - if not pure fantasy of wishful thinking. I'm sitting
at roughly 13,000 words right now and want to sink into the plot and see
what's going to happen!

I am in the middle of line edits for my Novella "In Our Dream" that's
being released on December 18th and
just finished the second round of edits on Sosltice Heat that's being
released on December 11th ... (so you can see the immediate attention
these require!!)

And because I have sooo much free time I agreed to some re-writes on
another story that I have just signed a contract for!

There's promoting too - I have to keep reminding me that if I don't tell
people my books are out there - they aren't going to know! I just need
an alarm that reminds me to do this regularly or an assistant. Maybe I
can bribe one of the kids...

All that's missing at this point is the other books I've signed with publishers
to suddenly be bumped up on the action list and more edits/re-writes to
arrive in my inbox!

Writing status: idle

Physical status: tired and sore (I was supposed to get up this morning for a dentist app't but my body said NO! So I listened until one of the older kids went by my door - yes a mom can recognize the child by the sound of them walking - and had him call the dentist and tell them I wasn't moving! lol) the sore part is due to I discovered last night at work that a hip bone is not able to move a huge built in freezer when you hit it at full speed! ouch!

Plans for the day: Ingest more coffee, open several word docs and see which one my brain wants to tackle today.

Of course if I'd get off blogspot all of that might happen faster.

I've decided I'm taking the entire month of December off as far as writing 'new' stories ... maybe, I've said that before though and with eight complete plot lines sitting there waiting to be written - well, we'll see how that goes!

Happy writing and reading!!!

Procrastination or Progress...

I've been spending more time than I probably should working on my
website. No, I'm not avoiding my NaNo goal - completely...

I like to think where I'm procrastinating in one area I'm making progress
in another.

For example when I ignore (=procrastinate)the laundry and concentrate on writing - I sign contracts (=progress)
and everyone in the house rediscovers clothes they forgot they had! (=bonus!) lol

So while my NaNo story sits there and waits for me to come back to it, I now
have a website design I really like and so far I've been told it's easier to
navigate. The other setup was great while I had one book to list, but it was starting to
get a little cluttered looking when I started to add things.

Let me know what you think!!

Meet Jacqueline Paige!

Meet Jacqueline Paige!

Who is Jacqueline Paige?

She’s a busy mother to five adventurous and unpredictable children from Ontario, Canada (with the ever changing weather).

She is also a new author that writes about all things paranormal, mythical and magical.

She has delved into the world of pirate ghosts, witches, curses, psychics and shape shifters. Taking a seemingly normal person and giving them a little something extra and unexpected.

It is now available in Kindle on Amazon and in various other formats on fictionwise, ebooks, ARe, Mobipocket, Book Strand, ebookwise and more! (links can be found on Jacqueline’s website)

Her recipe for the series is:

A dash of spice, heat it

Add a flash of magic and watch the sparks fly

Toss in a killer that's targeting women

Add a handful of witches from all paths to stir it all together...

(Warning this will raise your body temperature, use with caution!)

Jacqueline also has a Novella available, BEHIND THE MASK

Manic Readers had this to say about BEHIND THE MASK

Gracelyn and Evan’s story is light, easy and short. Just the thing for a quick read before bed or any other time you just don’t feel like getting involved in something longer and deeper. This is exactly the kind of read I often look for when I just want to unwind.

~~

Jacqueline never stops writing and has a line up of several other books coming soon.

IN OUR DREAM a hot Christmas paranormal romance Novella will be released in December at Amira Press.

Feeling that Jennah and Dominic’s story wasn’t yet complete she has written a second part

FROM A DREAM (more details will be available soon)

~~

Also coming in 2010 from Class Act Books is MYSTIC PERCEPTIONS the first in her

HIDDEN SENSES Trilogy.

What if you weren't considered normal to the rest of the world?

Would you give up everything in your life to help someone, even if it meant starting over again?

~~

There’s more!

Jacqueline hopes to have good news regarding release dates for

TWICE CURSED

A tale about a young witch that finds herself cursed, not once but twice and an unsuspecting non-magical man that gets dragged into a whole new level of humanity he never dreamt existed.

And

SALVATION

What woman wouldn't want their own sexy pirate from the eighteenth century?

~~

Jacqueline is working on HEART, the first in her ANIMAL (shifters) Trilogy and hopes

to have more news on this shortly.

Three women without knowledge of their true heritage...

Three men that have waited for their mate all of their lives...

Hearts and tempers collide with wild passions and animal instincts

Short blank spell

I'm back!
For a short while at least.

I was not missing or off having fun in any sort of way - honest!

I have been working on two separate books' edits
writing my NaNo story
(which reminds me I need to go to NaNo and update my word count
sometime soon)

I signed a contract for the first in my Hidden Senses
Trilogy - Mystic Perceptions with Class Act Books

I just found out I should have the cover for another
book this week sometime
and I've been working in my real time life that's
outside of the stories inside my head.

I've also been working on promoting ideas...
(feel free to shout out some ideas
if you have any insight on this time - input is very welcome)

That covers this weeks events - and it's only Wednesday!!
(I just looked at the clock it's two minutes into Thursday, but I haven't slept
yet so that doesn't count!!!)

Hope everyone's week is just as chaotic and fun as mine!
