Author M.M. Shelley interview

Today I have the pleasure of having M.M. Shelley here to interview
while on her tour for Mishap and Chaos.

1. Who is M.M. Shelley, really?

Let’s see, I grew up in southern California in a Latino neighbourhood, I say that because of the significance of the rich Mexican culture. This influenced me while growing up because Mexican folklore is full of magic and mystical beings.

2. Where did you get your inspiration from for Mishap and Chaos?

It was while I was in Hawaii, a story began to develop and it wasn’t until I returned home that it all came together.  

3.  Mishap and Chaos is part of a series, tell us a bit about the other books.

This is the second in the trilogy, the first, Mishap & Mayhem, really sets the tone for the series and sets the reader up to believe that magic is possible. 

4. If you could only use five words to describe the series to grab my attention, what would they be? 

An action packed fantasy adventure.

5. While working on a story, do you directly onto the computer or are there notebooks and plot ideas jotted down in various places?

I have a notebook that I keep my ideas in and I can have it with me all the time.

6.  What do you do when you’re not writing/editing or thinking about writing/ editing?

My weeks are pretty busy, I teach confirmation at St. Josephs to teens, I also train at a martial arts studio in Whittier, CA its Tai Shing Pek Kwar, and it’s an amazing style of Kung Fu. Lastly I do yoga mostly so that I don’t hurt myself while training. And of course my family keeps me busy.

7.  If you had one piece of advice for all those writers sitting out there procrastinating about making that first submission, what would it be?

Just go for it!

8. What is your favourite scene in Mishap and Chaos? Why that one?

This is a great question, but I don’t really have a favourite! There are many scenes that really created themselves and add intrigue to the story.
